Depth into the land of the thunder dragon is a tour package which takes our valued guests further into the east side of the country travelling almost all of Bhutan with ease. Get amazed hiking to Taktsang monastery and with the sights of the Himalayas as you reach to Dochula pass. Taste mouthwatering Bhutanese dishes exclaiming “wow! This is different”. Discover the places located in the east side of the country through beautiful landscapes from lush valleys to dense forests visiting the district of Mongar, Trashigang and Trashiyangtse.

Tour Details

Day 1: Arrival at Paro to Thimphu (65 Km, 2hrs)                                        

  • Witness the amazing part of Himalayan ranges as you land.
  • When descending, embrace the outstanding magnificence of Paro valley.
  • You may have heard about Bhutan being the only carbon negative country in the world, and you feel it as soon as you get out of the plane.
  • After proceeding with the formalities of visas and customs, our representative will be waiting for you.
  • Drive towards Thimphu, the capital city (1hour plus including a brief visit to Tachok Lhakhang).
  • Before Dinner there will be an orientation on Bhutanese protocols by your assigned guide.

Day 2: Thimphu 

  • Full day sightseeing in Thimphu with ease.
  • Visit to Buddha point, where 51.5 meters tall Buddha Dordenma statue stands. It is considered one of the tallest statues of Buddha in the world.
  • Visit to Memoral chorten (stupa) built in memory of his majesty the third king Jigme Dorji Wangchuk in 1974.
  • Visit to Trashi Chhodzong (fortress) which was built in 1641. Houses government’s offices and kings’ throne room and is also the summer residence of the chief abbot.
  • Visit to the folk heritage museum to experience the rich and unique culture and tradition which was practiced far back in time.
  • Visit to Textile museums and witness how ladies weave the traditional dresses.
  • Visit to Bhutan postal museums and perceive ages of different postal that Bhutan used.
  • Visit Changangkha lakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan.
  • Visit the streets of Thimphu capital and continue leisurely through the streets and the famous craft bazar.
  • Overnight at Thimphu.

Day 3: Thimphu

  • Continue full day sightseeing in Thimphu with ease.
  • Visit to Tango monastery.
  • Experience herbal bath of Bhutan.
  • Visit traditional handmade paper factory.
  • Visit Zilukha nunnery.
  • Visit to Bhutan Takin (National animal) preservation center which is located at Motithang.
  • Visit to Sangaygang for the incredible view of the entire capital city.
  • Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Thimphu to Trongsa (200 Km, 7hrs)

  • After breakfast, Depart for Trongsa.
  • On the way stop at Dochula pass (3100 m) for Photo taking and one can also see the enormous eastern Himalayan view such as Mt. Gangkar puensum, Mt. Tsendagang, Terigang, Jejegangphugang, Mt. & Mt. Masanggang (if weather permits).
  • Lunch at Wangduephodrang.
  • Pass by Pelela(pass) and Chendbji Chortan (stupa) on the way to Trongsa.
  • Upon arriving at Trongsa, visit Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dong (Museum).
  • Overnight at Trongsa.

Day 5: Trongsa to Bumthang (68 Km, 3hrs)

  • After Breakfast visit Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dzong.
  • Then drive to Bumthang and stop for a while at Yutong La Pass.
  • Enter Bumthang via Chumey valley, a beautiful cultivated valley.
  • On arrival visit Jambey Lhakhang.

Day 6: Bumthang 

  • Full day sightseeing with ease.
  • After breakfast visit Kurje Lhakhang.
  • Visit Tamshing Monastery.
  • Kenchosum Lhakhang.
  • Visit Jakar Dzong.
  • Stroll around the town of Bumthang.

Day 7: Bumthang to Mongar (198 Km, 7hrs)

  • After breakfast journey continues further towards eastern Bhutan.
  • Stop at Thrumshing la pass on the way to Mongar.
  • Then slowly downwards we go to Sengor and check out the amazing waterfalls.
  • Cross by Kurichu Bridge, pine forest and maize fields.
  • Picturesque spot for picnic lunch
  • Arrive at Mongar town and visit Mongar Dzong.
  • Leisurely walk around town area.

Day 8: Mongar to Trashigang (96 Km, 3hrs)

  • After breakfast we continue our journey towards Trashigang.
  • Stop at Kori La pass consisting of beautiful Chorten and a stone wall.
  • Drive through green forest filled with ferns, Maize fields & banana groves.
  • Drive along the Gamri River until Dametsi monastery on top of a hill also considered one of the most important monasteries of eastern Bhutan.
  • Arrive at Trashigang, the most populated district in the country.
  • Visit Trashigang dzong and leisurely walk around town.

Day 9: Trashigang (Excrusion to Tashiyangtse) 

  • After breakfast we take you for a pleasure trip to Tashiyangtse about 24km.
  • Visit to Gom Kora, a very holy stupa.
  • Visit to Doksum village, famous of hand woven traditional Bhutanese fabric.
  • Visit to Trashi Yangtse Dzong.
  • Visit Art school and famous Chhorten Kora.
  • Return back to Trashigang.

Day 10: Trashigang to Bumthang (289 Km, 10hrs)

  • After breakfast drive back to Bumthang with lunch on the way.
  • Overnight at Bumthang.

Day 11: Bumthang to Phobjikha to Gangtey (193 Km, 7.5hrs)

  • After breakfast journey towards Gangtey.
  • Upon arriving Gangtey visit Gantey Goenpa (Monastry).
  • Amazing view of Phobjikha valley where black necked cranes migrate from Tibet in WINTER.
  • Overnight at Gangtey.

Day 12: Phobjikha to Punakha (70 Km, 3hrs)

  • After early breakfast start journey towards Punakha.
  • Upon arriving at Punakha visit Punakha Dzong in the junctions of two rivers Phochu (Male River) and Mochu (Female River).
  • After lunch visit Khamsum Yulley Namgyal temple.
  • Stroll around Punakha town.

Day 13: Punakha to Paro (128 Km, 4hrs)

  • After breakfast visit Chimi lakhang and then journey towards Paro.
  • Stop for lunch at Dochula Druk Wangyel Cafeteria.
  • After lunch continue journey towards Paro.
  • On the way to Paro visit Simtokha Dzong.
  • Arrive at Paro and check into hotel.

Day 14: Paro

  • Visit to one of the hot spot destination, Paro Taktsang (Tiger Nest).
  • 800 meters and 5hrs hike till the Monastery including lunch and rest.
  • The hike is divided into three view stops:

1) Cafeteria view stop- take rest and have refreshments

2) Photo view stop – best stop to take photos of monastery

3) Final stop at monastery- get detailed explanations from guide

Note: Transportations like ponies will be available (individual has to bare their own cost)

  • Overnight at hotel.
